In Arabic traditions, "Djinn" (or "Jin") where known as fantastic creatures, haunting the deserts and bothering peoples. It designates also the small vortexes running through desert landscapes.

The word "Khanjar" refers to a curved dagguer which have been used within old Arabic tribes to convey meaning of power : adulthood or chiefdom. It was also considered as a convenient assassination weapon.

"Al-Nafud" refers to a stripe of desert running through the Arabian Peninsula on old Earth (SOL system). Scholars argue that this word is coming from old bedouin traditions. It aims to describe a kind of landscape : "an area of sand dunes".
